Planning a Flight to the Keys, the Bahamas and Across Florida

A destination on this page is a place we put an aircraft down, not a place we sell a ticket to. Every crossing is flown privately from South Florida and from our partner base in the Bahamas, in both directions, on the day you choose.

What decides which aircraft flies where is the far end, not the near end. A floatplane needs protected water and reaches settlements that have no runway at all. A helicopter needs a pad, a lawn or a dock. A small plane or a jet needs a paved strip and the strip decides the island.

That is why the same island appears under one aircraft and not another. The filter above is the honest version of that: it shows what we have written down on our own charter pages and nothing else.

Florida and the Florida Keys are domestic flying. The Bahamas is an international crossing and the paperwork rather than the flying is what usually decides how early a day starts. Each destination page carries the detail for its own crossing.

Inside Florida the flying is domestic. A departure is a decision made the same morning, if the aircraft is free.

Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach and Naples sit on this list. The first three are our own bases, so they are arrivals as often as departures.

The Keys are one road in and one road out. That is the whole argument for flying them.

Key West, Dry Tortugas National Park, Islamorada and Key Largo are reached without the drive and the last of them has no road at all.

The Bahamas is an international crossing. The paperwork rather than the distance is what shapes the day.

Nassau, Bimini, Staniel Cay, Grand Bahama, Harbour Island and Marsh Harbour are the islands and harbours the charter desk plans most often from South Florida.

Where does Crown Air fly?

Which aircraft reaches which island?

Choose an aircraft at the top of this page and the list below shows only the destinations we fly it to. The difference is the landing surface: water for a seaplane, a pad or a dock for a helicopter, a paved strip for a small plane or a jet.

Can you fly to an island with no airport?

That is what the floatplane is for. It puts down on protected water rather than a runway, which is why several destinations here appear under Seaplane and under nothing else.

Do you fly to the Caribbean?

No. Florida, the Florida Keys and the Bahamas are the whole territory. Anything further south is outside what we operate.

Can a destination also be a departure point?

Yes. Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach are our own bases and appear here as arrivals as much as departures, because a charter runs in both directions.

What happens once I pick a destination?

Each destination leads to its own page, with the crossing, the landing point and what the day looks like once you are down. Where that page is still being written, the charter desk plans the crossing directly.

Can I bring a pet on the flight?

Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you. The one thing we ask is that you tell us at the enquiry, with the type of animal and its weight, so the seating and the load plan are right from the start.
