Charter Basics
Helicopter Taxi West Palm Beach: From the First Message to the Landing
A charter out of Palm Beach County is more than the hop across the Gulf Stream. These are the six things every booking settles, in the order you meet them.
Plan Your Helicopter CharterDistance and Altitude
Seventy Two Nautical Miles to Bimini, Seventy Four to Freeport
Measured from downtown West Palm Beach, Bimini is 72 nautical miles, Freeport 74, Key West 159 and Nassau 177. The helicopter covers them low enough to read the water, and the quote carries the time for your date. See all helicopter routes.
The Whole Aircraft
A Private Charter Priced as One Aircraft, Not Per Seat
A charter is priced for the entire helicopter, so the seats around you are yours whether two of you fly or six. Nothing else is booked into the cabin, and the hour on the schedule is the one you chose. A party too big for one cabin flies a second machine from our helicopters.
Where the Helicopter Sets Down
A Cleared Area Instead of a Runway at Either End
A helicopter needs an approved area, not a runway, so the choice of pickup is wider than the list of airports in the county. Which surface may be used on the day is the operator's call, and we settle it before you book. Where a field is the better answer, a small plane from West Palm Beach covers the same corridor.
Both Borders
Passports for Everyone and Both Borders Filed Ahead
The Bahamian declaration goes in from Florida before you leave, and the way home is filed with United States Customs from our side. Every passenger needs a valid passport, children included, and a driving licence will not do. The travel documents guidance lists what a flight from West Palm Beach to the Bahamas needs.
On Board and Ashore
Soft Bags, Catering and Celebrations Arranged Ahead
Weight and volume rule a helicopter cabin, so soft bags load better than hard cases, and the allowance is agreed before the flight under the baggage guidance. Catering and a private chef are loaded before the pad, and a birthday or an anniversary becomes a custom experience.
How Long the Day Runs
Day Trip to Long Weekend in the Same Helicopter
Bimini and Freeport fit inside one day with hours left on the sand. Longer crossings clear at a port of entry first, so days of island hopping start early, and a night away changes the baggage, not the aircraft.
Departure Points
On Demand Helicopter West Palm Beach: Departure Points Around the County
Palm Beach County runs four public airports, and a helicopter can lift from an approved pad as well, so the departure point follows your morning and not the aircraft. Three airports are confirmed with our operator partners, and any pad is settled for your date.
Palm Beach International (PBI)
The county's airline airport, and the base of our operator partner's South Florida helicopter. It is also an airport of entry for United States Customs, so a party coming back from the Bahamas can land, clear and walk to the car in one place. Palm Beach and West Palm Beach both use it, which suits a hotel on either side of the lagoon.
Lantana (LNA)
The southern general aviation field of the county, available on request. The helicopter has to position there first and the operator has to approve it, so it is set up per date, not kept as a regular pickup. Name it and the quote shows the cost of that extra leg.
North County (F45)
The general aviation field at the northern end of the county, on request and under the same review. It helps a party staying toward Jupiter that would otherwise drive south first, and the operator confirms it for the date.
A Pad Near Your Hotel or House
Which pad a helicopter may use depends on the property, the wind and the operator's approval for your date, so this page names none. Send the address, and the hotel pickup is checked before anything is quoted.
How to Charter
How to Book a Helicopter in West Palm Beach
Booking a helicopter takes four steps, and only the first one is yours.
Plan Your Helicopter Charter- 01
Contact Us
Write to us on WhatsApp or by email with your dates, how many of you are flying, where you are starting and where you want to go. Tell us the hour you would like to leave.
A helicopter lifts from a pad as readily as from a ramp, so the pickup can be Palm Beach International, a hotel or any other approved site close to your morning.
- 02
Get Aircraft and Prices Back
We check what is free on your date and send back the helicopters that fit, with the cabin, the baggage and the flight time for each. Each aircraft is priced a little differently, so you can see which one suits the party.
- 03
Confirm and Pay
You choose the helicopter, and we fix the pickup and the landing site with the operator. Then comes everything around the flight: catering on board, a car waiting when you land, ground transport to the hotel or back to the airport, and flowers if the day is a special one. You approve and pay, and the boarding time, the pickup and everything included reach you.
- 04
Just Arrive 30 Minutes Early
There is no terminal and no queue. Be at the pickup 30 minutes before the hour, then lift off and enjoy the day.
Where It Lands
Where Your Helicopter from West Palm Beach Takes You
Every one of these crossings starts in Palm Beach County, where the shelf is narrow and the open Atlantic is close, and the helicopter decides how they feel: Bimini, Freeport, the Abacos, Nassau, the Keys, each of them seen from a cabin with glass on every side. The only open question is which view your day ends on.
Plan Your Helicopter CharterBimini
Across the StreamBimini lies right at the edge of the Gulf Stream, a low island with a marina, a few streets and the nurse sharks that gather in the shallows. It is the nearest Bahamian shore to this coast. Seventy two nautical miles from downtown West Palm Beach. North Bimini carries its own port of entry, so the helicopter clears there and the day begins where the boats are. Miami lies 49 nautical miles from the island, so a party staying there takes the shorter crossing, written out on the Miami to Bimini helicopter page. The island has its own Bimini page.
Grand Bahama and Freeport
The Short CrossingGrand Bahama is large enough to fill a day: lunch around Port Lucaya Marketplace, evening music at Count Basie Square, the fish fry on Taino Beach. The flight to it is among the shortest of the Bahamas crossings. Seventy four nautical miles. Grand Bahama International is an airport of entry with customs on the field, so the first landing clears there and the rest of the day belongs to the party. It works as a half day or a long weekend, and a morning departure leaves the afternoon for the harbour. The crossing is written out on the Miami to Freeport helicopter page, the island on the Grand Bahama page.
Walker's Cay
The Northern EdgeWalker's Cay is the most northerly point of the Bahamas. Under a hundred acres of land sit inside their own barrier reef and a national park, and sport fishing has been its trade since the 1930s. The marina has reopened. Ninety five nautical miles. Walker's Cay is itself a port of entry, with customs on the island by invitation and appointment only, so the clearance is arranged before the date. Divers come for the reef and the sharks and anglers for the water around it, and the island suits a short remote day better than a long one. See the Walker's Cay page.
Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay
Cays on the Sea of AbacoTreasure Cay offers a long beach, a marina and a golf course on Great Abaco. Green Turtle Cay is a small settlement over the water that you reach by boat, and both are entered the same way. One hundred and forty three nautical miles to Treasure Cay and 146 to Green Turtle Cay. Treasure Cay has an airfield seven miles from the beach, and the first landing in the country clears at a port of entry before the party carries on. A night on the cay suits it better than a day. Each has a page, Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay, and the crossings are written out on the Miami to Treasure Cay and Miami to Green Turtle Cay pages.
Marsh Harbour and Hope Town
The Abaco HubMost of the Abacos is reached through Marsh Harbour, which has the harbour, the ferry landings and the Sea of Abaco on its doorstep. Twenty minutes across that water, Hope Town keeps a striped lighthouse from 1863 that is still run by hand. One hundred and sixty one nautical miles to Marsh Harbour and 167 to Hope Town. Marsh Harbour is a port of entry, so the clearance happens on arrival and the cays are minutes beyond it. A night in Hope Town turns the ferry into the easy part of the plan. See Marsh Harbour and Hope Town, or the crossing on the Miami to Marsh Harbour helicopter page.
Nassau and Paradise Island
The CapitalNassau gives a mixed party two days in one: the harbour front, its streets and restaurants, and the resorts of Paradise Island across the bridge for those who would rather stay by a pool. One hundred and seventy seven nautical miles. Nassau is a port of entry, so the first landing clears here, and many parties carry on to the Out Islands from this clearing stop. For a mixed party it is the easiest place to split up for the afternoon and meet again for dinner. The crossing is on the Miami to Nassau helicopter page, the city on the Nassau page.
Islamorada and Key West
No Border at AllThe Keys are the one direction with no Bahamas paperwork at all. A low run over the bridges, the flats and the wrecks, then Old Town at the end of the chain. One hundred and twelve nautical miles to Islamorada and 159 to Key West, with both ends in Florida. From the north end of the coast these are longer days than the Bahamas, and the outer limit is the light and not a customs hour. Many parties fly one way and come home slowly by road or boat. The crossings are on the Miami to Islamorada and Miami to Key West pages, the rest of the chain on the Florida Keys helicopter page.
Everywhere Else We Arrange Flights
Same AircraftThese seven are the ones asked for first, not the limit. The Berry Islands are 141 nautical miles to Chub Cay and 130 to Great Harbour Cay, North Eleuthera and Harbour Island 196, Staniel Cay in the Exumas 248. Each has its own crossing page, written from Miami: Chub Cay, Great Harbour Cay, Harbour Island and Staniel Cay. The whole list sits on all helicopter routes, and a day that moves between cays is island hopping. Where a runway is the better answer we say so and offer a small plane from West Palm Beach instead.

In Detail
Helicopter Charter from West Palm Beach: The Gulf Stream Edge, the Lagoon and a Cabin Made of Glass
Off Palm Beach County the shelf is at its narrowest, and the Gulf Stream runs closer to the mainland than anywhere else on this coast.
That is the reason the next four blocks start with the view: the hour you leave, the paperwork we carry and the days the helicopter is booked for come after it, all of them part of any helicopter flight to the Bahamas.
The route pages for the crossings are written from Miami, so their distances differ from the ones here. Prefer another aircraft? West Palm Beach also has a seaplane charter, a small plane charter and a private jet charter, and the same helicopters fly the Miami to Bimini and Miami to Key West routes.
Helicopter Taxi West Palm Beach: Flying Low Over the Reef and the Flats
Glass on every side, and the edge of the Stream in all of it
A helicopter flies low and slow, so the lagoon, the inlet and the line where the water turns dark are part of the flight and not something beneath a cloud deck, and there is room for everyone to sit and watch the colours change. Nobody has to lean over a neighbour to see it, and nobody looks past a wing. Lake Worth Lagoon lies below you first, a ribbon about twenty miles long between the mainland and the barrier island of Palm Beach, opening to the Atlantic at the inlet. Peanut Island sits in that gap, 79 acres built from the sand dredged to cut the inlet in 1918. Offshore the colour drops to deep blue sooner than anywhere further south, because the shelf is narrow here, and the flats of the far side come up under the cabin after that. The machines that fly it are the helicopters, and every crossing is listed on all helicopter routes. Some parties book only the view, as a scenic flight, and a sunset flight turns the way home into the part people remember.
Private Helicopter West Palm Beach: You Decide the Departure Time
Your own pilot, your own hour, and a cabin with only your party in it
Nobody else is on the list, so the clock belongs to your party and the day is shaped around what it wants, not around a timetable. A seat on a schedule leaves when the schedule says so. A chartered helicopter waits until your party is done, so an afternoon that runs long is still the same flight home. The pickup near the lagoon is chosen around your hotel and not around the aircraft, and the return is planned against daylight. A party too big for one cabin flies as a second machine or a second leg, settled before the date. If the departure slips by an hour, the filing moves with it as long as the day still fits the light, and guests who stay a night change the plan, not the helicopter. What travels with you follows the baggage guidance, which counts weight and volume, and the weather and delays policy explains how cloud base, visibility and wind are called.
Helicopter Rental West Palm Beach: Both Borders Handled for You
Your passport is the only paperwork you carry across
A Bahamas day crosses an international border twice, and that is the part that fails when nobody files it early. It sits on our side of the desk, not yours, and it is done before the day starts rather than on the apron. The Bahamian declaration goes in from Florida, the helicopter clears at a port of entry on its first landing, and the way home is filed with United States Customs before you leave. Everyone needs a passport, children included, as the travel documents guidance spells out. The Bahamian desks keep daytime hours, so the hour of the crossing is picked against them and not against the flight. Palm Beach International is an airport of entry on this side, which means the return can end where your car is parked. On the day your part is short: hand over the passports on arrival and get back into the cabin. The filing before and after is ours, and the boarding time reaches you once it is done.
Rent a Helicopter in West Palm Beach: Milestone Days and Bahamas Weekends
Milestone days, quiet weekends and a table with a view
People rent a helicopter when the day matters more than the fare: a first morning on the flats, a week of the Wellington horse season that needs a quiet way out, a crew joining a boat, or a surprise that has to land at exactly the right hour. You choose the hour and the length of the stay. A party meeting a boat can hand over to a yacht transfer, and a proposal or a milestone moves the return leg to the best light. Add a private chef or catering, and the day is built and not just booked. During the winter season at Wellington, about thirteen weeks from early January, a morning flight leaves the afternoon free. A wedding or an elopement moves the aircraft and not the guests. Most of these days run out and back on the same date, because the near islands are close, and a Bahamas day trip is the same helicopter as a weekend. Tell us what the day is for when you send the dates, because that decides the hour more than the distance does.
Questions
Helicopter Charter from West Palm Beach: Questions Answered
How far is Bimini from West Palm Beach by helicopter?
Bimini is 72 nautical miles from downtown West Palm Beach and Freeport 74, measured from coordinates. The flying time depends on the aircraft, the wind and the site at the other end, and it comes back with the boarding time once you send the dates.
Do I need a passport for a helicopter charter to the Bahamas?
Yes. Every passenger needs a valid passport, children included, plus any visa their nationality asks for. We file the Bahamian declaration and the return with United States Customs from our side, name the port of entry and send a checklist after the booking. A flight down the Florida Keys crosses no border, so photo identification is enough there.
Where can a helicopter land near West Palm Beach and in the Bahamas?
A helicopter needs an approved area and not a runway, so the list covers airports, hotel and resort pads and, where the operator allows it, approved private property. Noise rules, obstacles and the owner's permission decide each case. Our planners confirm the exact site before the date and tell you plainly if a request cannot be approved.
Where does a helicopter charter leave from in West Palm Beach?
Palm Beach International is the base of our partner's South Florida helicopter and the usual start. Lantana and North County can be added on request, with the operator's approval and a positioning leg in the price. Send the hotel or house you leave from and the pickup comes back chosen.
How does customs work on a helicopter flight from West Palm Beach?
The first landing in the Bahamas is a clearing stop at a port of entry, and the day carries on once the paperwork is closed.
The return is filed with United States Customs before you leave, and Palm Beach International is an airport of entry, so a party can finish the day close to its car. None of the paperwork is yours.
Can I fly to the Bahamas and back in one day from West Palm Beach?
Yes, Bimini and Freeport are the usual choice. You leave in the morning, the helicopter waits at the other end and you decide when to fly home. We file both borders in advance, so you only bring passports and name the hour.
How much luggage fits on a helicopter charter?
A helicopter cabin is limited by weight and volume, so soft bags load better than hard cases. The allowance depends on the aircraft, the passengers, the fuel and the weather, and we agree it before the flight. Golf clubs and dive kit usually travel when named at booking.
What happens if the weather stops a helicopter flight?
Cloud base, visibility and wind decide a helicopter day as much as the landing site, so a departure can move even when the sky looks clear. We follow the forecast from the day before and tell you early if a change looks likely, with a new time, another site or another aircraft. The pilot in command has the final say.
Can a helicopter charter be booked for the same day?
Often for Florida legs and sometimes for the Bahamas. An international crossing needs a customs notice and a confirmed port of entry, and a private pad needs its owner's permission, so there is a practical cut off hour. Send the date and both ends of the trip and a planner tells you what is still possible.
How many people can one helicopter carry?
It depends on the helicopter that flies your date. The Bell 407, the Agusta 109 and the Sikorsky S-76 have different cabins, and bags count against the same weight as passengers. A larger group flies in a second helicopter or on a second leg.
Can the helicopter take us straight to a resort or a yacht?
Often it can, which is why we ask for the property or the boat and not only the island. Resort pads, private land and yacht decks need permission and a check of noise and obstacles, so the answer is confirmed for your date and never promised on a page. If a direct landing is not possible, the nearest suitable site is used.
Can we fly from Miami or Fort Lauderdale instead?
Yes. All of South Florida reaches the same islands, and the best start is the one nearest to where you stay. Miami is closer to Bimini, with 49 nautical miles against 72 from here. Tell us where the morning begins and the start comes back chosen.
Can I bring a pet on a helicopter charter?
Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you. We only ask that you tell us at the enquiry what kind of animal it is and how much it weighs, so the seating and the load are planned correctly from the beginning.
What does a private helicopter charter from West Palm Beach cost?
The price is for the whole aircraft and not per seat, and it moves with three things: which helicopter flies, how many of you board with bags and how long it waits for you. The distance counts too, which is why we ask for the destination first. Send those details and you get one all in number before anything is due.
