Question 1

How long is a small plane flight from Miami?

Accepted Answer

It depends on where the day ends. Bimini is 49 nautical miles off the coast, Freeport 93, Nassau 160 and Key West 112. A small plane flies those miles low, so the time is not a number from a table: it depends on the aircraft, the wind and the strip at the other end, and it comes back with the boarding time when you send the dates.

Question 2

Do I need a passport for a small plane charter to the Bahamas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Bahamas is an international crossing, so every passenger needs a valid passport and any visa their nationality requires, and children need their own documents. We file the inbound and outbound paperwork, confirm the port of entry and send a document checklist once the booking is confirmed. Inside the Florida Keys there is no border at all, so the same day runs on photo identification.

Question 3

Where can a small plane land in the Bahamas and the Keys?

Accepted Answer

A small plane uses the short and remote fields that larger aircraft pass over, from island strips to the regional airports. Every field is assessed for your date: runway length, surface, obstacles, weight on the day and the operator's own limits all decide what is possible, and some private strips need the owner's permission. Where an island has no strip at all, a seaplane flies the same route.

Question 4

Where does a small plane charter leave from in Miami?

Accepted Answer

From four departure points around the city, and the right one is chosen for your ground time rather than for the aircraft: Miami Executive, Opa-locka Executive, Miami International and Fort Lauderdale Executive. Say where you are staying and the departure point comes back already chosen, with the boarding time.

Question 5

How does customs work on a small plane flight from Miami?

Accepted Answer

Every arrival clears at a port of entry the first time it enters the Bahamas, so the first landing is a clearing stop, and the day carries on from there once the paperwork is closed. The return clears United States customs before anyone goes home, and Opa-locka Executive is where an island day usually ends. None of the paperwork is yours.

Question 6

Can you do the Bahamas as a day trip from Miami?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and on the near islands it is the most common booking we take. Out in the morning, back in the evening, with the aircraft waiting at the other end rather than turning around, and you tell the crew when you want to leave. Both borders are filed in advance from our side, so the day needs nothing on your list.

Question 7

How much luggage can I bring on a small plane charter?

Accepted Answer

More than most people expect, which is usually why the aircraft is chosen, but the allowance is planned rather than assumed. It depends on the passenger count, the fuel required for the leg and the strip at each end. Soft bags load best. Dive gear, fishing rods, coolers and golf clubs can usually be carried when they are declared at booking, and we agree your allowance before the flight.

Question 8

What happens if weather stops a small plane flight?

Accepted Answer

Small plane operations depend on visibility, cloud base and wind as well as the state of the strip, so a departure can move even on a bright day. We watch the forecast from the day before, contact you as soon as a change looks likely and offer a revised time, an alternative strip or a different aircraft. Safety decisions rest with the operator and the pilot in command.

Question 9

Can a small plane charter be booked for the same day?

Accepted Answer

Often yes for Florida legs and sometimes for the Bahamas, but an international crossing needs customs notification and a confirmed port of entry, and a private strip needs permission, which both set a practical limit on how late a booking can be made. Aircraft availability in season is the other constraint. Send the date and the two ends of the trip, and a flight planner tells you what is possible.

Question 10

How many people fit on one small plane charter?

Accepted Answer

That depends on which aircraft flies your date: the Cessna Grand Caravan, the Piper Aztec and the Piper Navajo differ in cabin size, and baggage comes out of the same load the passengers do. The aircraft is chartered whole, so your party travels on one manifest. A larger party flies as a second plane or a second leg, settled before the date rather than at the ramp.

Question 11

Can a small plane land on a short or unpaved island strip?

Accepted Answer

Often yes, and that is the point of the aircraft, but every field is assessed individually. Runway length, surface, obstacles, weight on the day and the operator's own limits all decide what is possible, so the honest answer is that it is checked for your date rather than promised on a page. Where a strip is not the right call, a nearby field or a seaplane takes its place.

Question 12

Can you fly from Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All the South Florida departure points reach the same islands, and the difference between them is worth very little once the drive is counted. The right departure point is the one closest to where you are staying, not the one closest to the island. Say where the morning starts and the answer comes back with it already chosen, together with the boarding time.

Question 13

Can I bring a pet on a small plane charter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you. The one thing we ask is that you tell us at the enquiry, with the type of animal and its weight, so the seating and the load plan are right from the start.

Question 14

What does a small plane charter from Miami cost?

Accepted Answer

A charter is priced as a whole aircraft, not per seat, so the number moves with three things: which aircraft flies your date, how many of you there are once bags are aboard and how long the aircraft waits for you. How far the day goes moves it as well, which is why the destination is asked for first. Tell us those and you get one all-in number before anything is due.
