A seaplane lands on water, so the arrival point is a harbour, a sheltered bay or a private dock instead of an airport. The trip ends where you are staying, which removes the part most guests dread, the drive from a runway to the place they actually booked. Islands without a usable runway are reachable directly, with no ferry leg and no second transfer.

On a calm lee shore the aircraft comes in close to the beach, so a cay with nothing but sand is a arrival point like any other. Bimini

Harbour Island and Eleuthera

Staniel Cay and the Exumas

Key West

Islamorada and Marathon

Abaco and Marsh Harbour

In the Air

Flying Low Over the Reef and the Flats

Floatplanes fly lower and slower than a jet, so the reef line, the flats and the bridges are part of the journey instead of something under a cloud layer. Guests who have done the same crossing by ferry tend to describe the flight as the part they remember. On the shorter crossings that is about 25 minutes, Miami to Bimini and about an hour to Nassau.

Which aircraft fits depends on the group and the water at the far end. A seaplane needs a protected surface, a helicopter needs a cleared area rather than a strip and both fly the same corridor. If your group is larger than a single float aircraft carries, a helicopter charter or a second leg on a private jet into the nearest strip is the usual answer.
