The Crossing
Small Plane Flights Miami to Palm Beach
Palm Beach is an island without a runway on it, and that turns out not to matter at all. The nearest field sits on the mainland side, a little under four miles from the island by road.
A small charter plane lands there on wheels, a car meets it on the ramp and you are across the bridge before most people have found the exit at a terminal.
The flight itself is 54 nautical miles straight up the coast. What that runs in block time depends on the aircraft and the departure point and it comes back with the quote.
Everything between those two moments is ours: the departure point in Miami, the aircraft and the crew, the ramp at the far end and the car waiting on it. Your party brings bags and the rest is arranged.
This is one of several Small Plane routes from the city. Guests who would rather come down on the water instead of driving the last three miles fly the same route by seaplane, and the city on the mainland side has its own route as Miami to West Palm Beach.
Plan Your Palm Beach CharterHow It Works
How a Small Plane Charter Miami to Palm Beach Actually Works
Both ends of this route are in the same state, which removes almost everything people expect a flight to involve. The day is a car, a ramp, less than an hour in the air and another car.
The short version: you arrive at the general aviation ramp in Miami, you fly up the coast, you land on the mainland side and a car takes you over the bridge onto the island.
Plan Your Palm Beach CharterThe Runway
The runway is on the mainland, not on the island, and that is the whole trick
Palm Beach itself is a barrier island with no airfield of any kind. The nearest is on the far side of the water, a little under four miles from the island by road, and it has a full general aviation side rather than only an airline terminal.
That is where a small charter plane puts its wheels down, and the island page covers what sits on the other side of the bridge.
The Bridge
Southern Boulevard runs from the field to the island in one straight line
The road out of the airport is the same road that crosses to the island, so the transfer is short enough that nobody plans around it. The bridge at that end was rebuilt and reopened in 2022.
A car is on the ramp when the door opens, arranged with the flight through ground transport, so the walk from the aircraft to the car is a few steps rather than a terminal.
What You Carry
A Palm Beach charter asks for a bag and ordinary identification
The crew files the flight plan and that is the sum of the paperwork on this route. Nothing goes ahead of you, nothing is handed over at either end and children need nothing at all. If the same trip is the first leg of something longer, say so at the enquiry and the rest of it is arranged with the same booking, per the travel documents page.
Leaving Miami
You arrive at the ramp close to the boarding time, not two hours before it
The aircraft leaves from a general aviation ramp rather than a terminal, so there is no check-in hall and no security queue of the kind that sets your alarm an hour earlier. You choose the departure point for your ground time rather than for the flight time: a field twenty minutes from the house is worth more than five minutes saved in the air.
Weather
A paved runway on this route is unbothered by water that is not
A rough morning on the Intracoastal can make a water arrival a bad idea while a runway is entirely indifferent to it. That is the practical argument for wheels on this run in winter, and it is the reason we quote both. What the aircraft needs on the day is a crew decision, taken against published minimums, never a preference.
The Block
The small plane waits, which is what makes a Palm Beach day a day
On a charter the airframe is yours for the block, so the return is set by you rather than by a timetable. Guests who want a night on the island tell us at the enquiry and the crew and the aircraft are planned around it. Nothing about the day is shared with anybody else's schedule.
Departure Points
Departure Points for Small Plane Flights to Palm Beach from Miami
A small plane uses short fields that a jet cannot, so the departure point is chosen for your ground time. These are the four we use around Miami. Select one to see exactly where it sits.
Miami Executive
Miami Executive Airport, TMB, Kendall
Kendall-Tamiami in the south west of the county and the field both small planes sit at, the land aircraft and the amphibian. A charter that starts here starts without a positioning leg, which is what decides an early morning on a same day return. It is also the shortest drive from the south and west of the county.
Opa-locka Executive
Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, OPF
The executive airport north west of the city, with private terminal handling and the point most Bahamas day trips are dispatched from. That makes it the default on a Bahamas day unless the drive is against you.
Miami International
Miami International Airport, MIA
A pickup rather than a base, for a party already at MIA that wants the onward leg to leave from the same airport. Arranged per flight and confirmed with the operator before it is quoted. It costs ground time, because a commercial field moves on its own schedule.
Fort Lauderdale Executive
Fort Lauderdale Executive, FXE
Fort Lauderdale Executive, the Broward departure, with its own federal inspection station for the return from the islands. The usual choice when the group is north of Miami and the drive south would cost more time than the flight saves. The return clears there as readily as it does at Opa-locka.
How to Charter
Charter a Small Plane from Miami to Palm Beach
Chartering an aircraft is not booking a seat. There are four steps, and only the first one is yours.

Contact Us
Write to us on WhatsApp or by email. Send your dates, how many guests, where you are coming from and where on the island you are headed. Tell us the hour you would like to leave. A small plane runs airport to airport and a car covers the last few miles. With a seaplane the arrival can be the water beside the island instead.
- 02
Get Aircraft and Prices Back
We check what is free on your date and send the small planes that fit. Seats, baggage and flight time for each one. Every aircraft costs a little differently, so we can find the best fit for you.
- 03
Confirm and Pay
You pick the aircraft, and we set the pickup point and the landing site. Then everything around the flight. Catering on board, a car waiting on the ramp when you land, ground transport to the house or the hotel and back again. Flowers if the day is a special one. You approve it, you pay, and your boarding time, departure point and everything included come back to you.
- 04
Just Arrive 30 Minutes Early
You will have no terminal and no queue. Just make sure you are there 30 minutes before. Then you take off, land on the mainland side, and are on the island a few minutes later.
On the Island
Where a Miami to Palm Beach Small Plane Puts You Down
The aircraft puts you on the general aviation ramp on the mainland side, a little under four miles from the island by road. A car is waiting on it, the road out of the field is the road that crosses the water, and everything below is a few minutes from there.
What follows is what parties actually do with the hours in between, and what the runway rather than the water makes possible.
Plan Your Palm Beach CharterThe Runway on the Mainland Side
Where You LandPalm Beach is a barrier island and there is no airfield on it. The nearest is across the water on the mainland, and it has a full general aviation side as well as an airline terminal. A small charter plane uses the former: a ramp, a parking spot and a door that opens onto tarmac rather than a jetway.
That is the whole reason this route works on wheels. There is nothing to circle, nothing to time against the tide and no surface condition to check before the approach. It is an ordinary landing at an ordinary airport, and the interesting part of the day starts when the door opens.
Nobody walks through a terminal. There is no baggage belt, no concourse and no queue, so the time between the wheels touching and the car pulling away is measured in minutes. The car itself is arranged with the flight rather than found on arrival.
Southern Boulevard and the Bridge Across
A Few MinutesThe road that leaves the airport runs east and crosses to the island at its southern end. That is the entire transfer: one road, one bridge, a little under four miles. The bridge at that end was rebuilt and reopened in 2022.
Because it is a drawbridge it can be up when you get there, which is the only variable on the ground side of this day and it costs minutes rather than plans. Two more crossings sit further north for anyone headed to the top of the island instead.
Worth Avenue and Its Eight Vias
Three BlocksThe avenue runs three blocks between the ocean and the waterway and carries more than two hundred shops and galleries. It is the reason a great many people fly up here for the day at all, and it is a short run north from where the bridge lands you.
What most first-time visitors do not know is that the avenue is not only the avenue. Eight vias open off it, narrow pedestrian passages leading into planted courtyards with cafes and smaller shops in them, and they are where the afternoon actually goes. You can walk the whole length in ten minutes and spend four hours doing it.
Anything you want booked before you land, from a table to a car for the afternoon, goes on the same quote as the flight. The island page covers what is here in its own right.
The Royal Poinciana Plaza
Volk, 1958At the north end of the island, on the way in from the middle bridge, sits a 180,000 square foot retail plaza that John Volk designed in 1957 and which opened the following year. Volk built it in the Regency Revival style with two courtyards, colonnades, gardens and fountains, and it was designated a landmark in 2008.
The brief it was built to is the reason it still works: the commission asked for a plaza in any style the architect liked, on the condition that it would endure for fifty years. It has now managed rather more than that, and it is the quieter of the island's two shopping quarters.
Golf Bags, Garment Bags and Freight
What Wheels CarryThis is the part of the day a runway changes most. Load on a small aircraft is a weight question rather than a bag count, and a wheeled airframe has more of it to give than floats do.
Golf clubs, garment bags for an evening, a case of something for the house, a dog crate: all of it travels, within the payload for the aircraft on the day. Say what is coming at the enquiry rather than at the ramp and see the baggage guidance for how the trade between passengers and weight actually works.
Anything larger than luggage is a different service on the same runway and that is island logistics rather than a charter with extra bags. House deliveries, provisions and boat parts move that way up and down this coast all winter.
The Ocean Course, Laid Out in 1896
Florida's OldestThe eighteen holes on the ocean side of the island are the oldest golf course in Florida. Alexander H. Findlay laid out the original links in 1896, which is earlier than most of the state's tourism industry, and the course has been rebuilt on the same ground since.
It is the single most common reason a party flies up with more baggage than they would otherwise carry, and it is the argument for wheels in one sentence: a set of clubs each is a weight conversation on this aircraft and a genuine problem on a smaller one.
Onward to the Islands by Small Plane
Same AircraftThis coast is the closest part of Florida to the northern Bahamas, which sit due east of here rather than southeast of Miami. That makes Palm Beach a natural first stop rather than only a destination. The same airframe carries on to Grand Bahama, Bimini, Nassau or Harbour Island.
That leg is arranged with the same booking, and it is what turns a lunch into island hopping or a wider Bahamas day. Tell us the shape of the trip at the enquiry and it is quoted as one movement rather than as separate charters booked back to back. The rest of the chain is on the Bahamas destinations page.
The Water Arrival Instead of the Road
If You PreferEverything above assumes wheels. The alternative is to skip the mainland and the bridge entirely and come down on the water beside the island, which is a different aircraft and its own page: the seaplane from Miami. We quote the two against each other rather than selling one.
Wheels win on a rough morning, with a load on board or when the day has to happen whatever the water is doing. Floats win when the last few miles by road are the part you would rather not have. Neither is the house preference and both fly the same coast to get here.

In Detail
Small Plane Miami to Palm Beach: The Runway, the Bridge and the Island
Everything above is the day. What follows is the detail behind it: the field on the mainland side, the three miles between it and the island, the coast you fly up to get there and what charter and private actually change about a short hop up the coast from Miami.
Miami to Palm Beach by Small Plane: The Coastal Crossing and Palm Beach
56 nautical miles from downtown Miami to the town docks
The crossing is not dead time between two airports. A small plane crosses low enough to see what is under it, so the water is part of the day rather than something to sit through. The flight itself is 54 nautical miles straight up the coast. On a route this short that second question is the one that matters: the drive to the field can easily be longer than the flight, so a field twenty minutes from the house beats one that saves five minutes in the air. Guests who would rather come down on the water instead of driving the last three miles fly the same route by seaplane, and the city on the mainland side has its own route as Miami to West Palm Beach. The day is a car, a ramp, less than an hour in the air and another car. Every seat is a window seat on an aircraft this size, and the same is true of scenic flights of this size, so nobody watches the crossing over someone's shoulder. Other small plane routes from Miami fly the same way.
Small Plane to Palm Beach from Miami: You Decide the Departure Time
Your hour, your names and a small plane to Palm Beach
Nobody hands you a timetable on a charter. The day is built around the hour you name. You name the hour you want to lift off, the hour you want to be standing on Palm Beach and which water in the city suits your morning. The aircraft belongs to your party for the day, so all three are your decision rather than a departure somebody else set, and a change the week before is a message to us. If the drive is shorter the other way, the same day runs out of Fort Lauderdale. Half an hour before the lift-off is the whole of the check-in. Your party walks from the car to the aircraft, the bags go on in front of you, and the list for that flight carries your names and nobody else's. Nothing about the morning waits on a stranger. The day is a car, a ramp, less than an hour in the air and another car. And the crossing is a reason in itself. The windows are deep and the aircraft crosses low, so there is room for everybody to sit and watch the water change instead of taking turns at one of them.
Small Plane Charter to Palm Beach from Miami: Nothing to File, Nothing to Carry
No customs and no check-in desk on a Palm Beach charter
A small plane from Miami to Palm Beach stays inside Florida, so there is no border to clear and no paperwork anybody has to file. The flight never leaves the country, so there is no declaration, no port of entry and no passport check at either end. Your party needs photo identification and nothing more. Everything around the flight is settled from our side before your party arrives, from the slot at both ends to the handling on the ramp. Your party walks from the car to the aircraft and the bags go on in front of you. No shared cabin and no other names on the manifest. The same aircraft is there for the return, so nothing is checked in, claimed or checked in again on the way home. What may travel sits in the baggage guidance. A departure moved by weather runs under the weather and delays policy, and a name added or dropped before the flight is a message to us rather than a problem for you.
Small Plane Miami Palm Beach: Milestone Days and Florida Weekends
A day trip, a weekend or something to celebrate on Palm Beach
A private small plane from Miami to Palm Beach is booked when the day is worth marking: a birthday, a proposal, a graduation, a weekend away with the people who matter. The flight is short enough that the occasion, not the travelling, is what the day is about. That is what a small plane Miami Palm Beach charter is for. Wheels also mean the day is on when the water is rough, that the load is a weight question rather than a shape question, and that the same airframe can carry on somewhere else afterwards without anybody swapping aircraft. Some parties fly over for the day and are home the same evening. Others stay on and book the return for the day they want. Both are the same charter, and the whole group travels together on one booking. If there is something to celebrate, say so when you book: catering, a private chef, premium beverages and flowers travel with you. Everything is in place before you board in Miami.
Questions
Small Plane Charter Miami to Palm Beach: Questions Answered
Can a plane land in Palm Beach?
Not on the island itself, which has no airfield of any kind. A small charter plane lands on the mainland side, a little under four miles away by road, and a car meets the aircraft on the ramp.
The bridge across is on the same road that leaves the field, so the transfer is a few minutes rather than a leg of the journey. Guests who would rather arrive on the water take the seaplane route instead.
What is the difference between Palm Beach and West Palm Beach?
Palm Beach is the barrier island. West Palm Beach is the city facing it across the water, and that is where the airport, the offices and most of the population are.
People book one meaning the other more often than any other mix-up on this coast. Both are flown as small plane routes and the aircraft lands in the same place either way. What changes is which side of the bridge the car takes you to.
How long is the flight from Miami to Palm Beach?
The straight line between the two airports is 54 nautical miles, which makes this one of the shortest runs we fly. The block time depends on the aircraft and which field you leave from and it is confirmed with the boarding time before you book.
On a hop this short the drive to the departure field can easily be longer than the flight, which is why that choice is worth a minute.
What is the latest we can decide to fly?
Later than most people expect. There is no schedule to fit into at either end, so a morning enquiry for an afternoon block is worth making and it comes down to what is genuinely free on the day. What comes back is the aircraft, the boarding time and the price, before anything is booked.
Where does the flight land for Palm Beach?
At the general aviation side of the field on the mainland, not at the airline terminal. That means a ramp rather than a concourse: the aircraft parks, the door opens and the car is waiting a few steps away.
From there it is one road and one bridge onto the island. The whole transfer is short enough that most parties do not think of it as a transfer at all.
How far is the airport from Worth Avenue?
A little under four miles by road, which in practice is a matter of minutes unless the bridge happens to be up. The road out of the airport runs east and crosses to the island at the southern end, and the avenue is a short run north from there. That is closer than most people get to their own terminal at a large airport.
Can you take a day trip to Palm Beach?
Easily, and it is the most common way this route is flown. On a charter the aircraft is held for your block, so the return is set by you rather than by a timetable.
Up in the morning, back in the evening, with a car on the ramp at both ends. Tell us at the enquiry if you would rather stay a night and the aircraft is planned around that instead.
How much baggage can we take on a small plane?
It is a weight question rather than a bag count. A small aircraft trades payload against passengers and fuel, so four guests with golf bags and four with garment bags are different aircraft. Say what is coming at the enquiry, including clubs, rods and anything with a battery in it, and the answer comes back with the quote rather than at the ramp.
Is flying worth it when you could drive?
That depends entirely on the day. The drive is a known quantity in the morning and a much less known one at five in the afternoon, and it is the return leg that usually decides it. What you buy is not only the time but the shape of the day: you leave when you choose, you come back when you choose and the aircraft waits in between.
Can we fly on to the Bahamas from Palm Beach?
Yes, and this coast is the natural place to do it from, because the islands lie due east of here rather than southeast. The same airframe carries on, the crossing is arranged with the same booking. Tell us the shape of the trip at the enquiry and it is quoted as one movement rather than as two separate charters booked back to back.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
A paved runway tolerates a great deal that a water arrival does not, which is the main practical argument for this aircraft in winter. If conditions are genuinely below minimums the crew moves or stands down the flight and the weather and delays policy says what that means for your booking. That call is the crew's, made against published limits, never a preference.
What do we do once we are there?
That is the island's own question rather than the flight's, and the Palm Beach destination page covers it properly. In short: the avenue and its vias, the plaza at the north end, the ocean on one side and the waterway on the other, and a golf course older than the state's tourism industry. Anything you want arranged before you land is set up with the flight.
Can I bring a pet on a small plane charter?
Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you. The one thing we ask is that you tell us at the enquiry, with the type of animal and its weight, so the seating and the load plan are right from the start.
