Terns and Ospreys
The park is a nesting site rather than a place birds pass over. Gull-billed terns and least terns nest on the open sand, along with nighthawks, oystercatchers and plovers, and a resident pair of ospreys hunts the same creeks the kayaks go up.
Birdwatching is one of the uses the Trust names for the park, and it is the reason the beaches here are walked rather than driven along. Nesting birds on open sand are easy to miss and easy to disturb, so the season matters more here than the hour does.

The Bahamas declared Moriah Harbour Cay a national park in 2002, enlarged it in 2015, and the Bahamas National Trust has managed it ever since. What the boundary holds is a whole coastal system rather than one beach: dunes, blue holes, coral reefs, mangrove creeks, coppice forest and seagrass meadows.
That is also why there is nothing to arrive at. The settlements that border the park, Rolle Town, Hartswell, The Ferry, The Cottage and Forbes Hill, all sit on Great Exuma and Little Exuma rather than inside it, and the Trust has a welcome centre planned for The Ferry on Little Exuma.
Stocking Island and Elizabeth Harbour
Minutes Away
The park reaches north into Elizabeth Harbour, the long anchorage in front of George Town, and there is a channel into it from there. The eastern end of Stocking Island, on the far side of that harbour, carries park trails as well. That geography is what lets a day be built either way. Inside the boundary it is creeks, dunes and flats.
