The famous swimming pigs of the Exumas are a different island altogether. Big Major Cay lies roughly 80 miles southeast of Nassau, so a day there is a longer flight and a full one. Athol Island is the half day version, minutes from the harbour rather than hours.
Say how many children are travelling when you send the date. The beach is shallow and easy, but the animals are large and the crews who work it handle the feeding rather than the guests.
It is also worth saying whether the pigs are the whole point of the day or one stop in an afternoon: the second runs east along the same stretch of water and takes most of the daylight.
Sea Gardens and the Patch Reefs

The water on the western side was declared a protected area in 1892 under the name Sea Gardens, the first one in the Bahamas. Glass bottomed boats were coming out to look at it a century before anybody put on a mask, and the approach passes straight over it.
What is down there is seagrass beds and patch reefs carrying stony and soft corals, fish and invertebrates rather than a wall or a drop off. That makes it bright, shallow water and the easiest kind for a mixed party: nobody has to dive to see the point of it.
Bring your own kit. There is nothing to rent on the island and nobody to rent it from, so water toys and a dock pickup for a boat to work from are the two things added most often to an afternoon here. The Quarantine Station Ruins

The two miles of Athol Island carry exactly two structures and both are ruins. A quarantine station was built here in 1871, the first dedicated one in the Bahamas, to hold arrivals by sea away from Nassau while yellow fever and smallpox were still coming in with the ships. It worked until a hurricane took it apart in 1929 and it was never rebuilt.
What is left stands in the scrub together with the remains of a former lighthouse, which is the other reason people walk up from the beach at all. Both are ruins rather than a museum: no path, no sign and nobody taking a ticket, so it is a walk in proper shoes rather than a stop on a tour.
