The Charter
Private Plane Miami to Hope Town
A charter is not a ticket. Nobody sells you a seat on it, because the aircraft is not carrying anybody else that day. Once that is true, three things stop being fixed: who boards it, what hour it leaves Florida, and which field on Great Abaco it rolls to a stop on.
Hope Town stands on Elbow Cay, a thin island with a harbour, a striped light and no road to the mainland of Great Abaco. The nearest asphalt lies about eight miles west at Marsh Harbour, and the last stretch is a short ferry over the Sea of Abaco.
A private aircraft does not remove that ferry. It removes everything in front of it: the hub, the connection and the published departure your whole day would otherwise be built backwards from.
Everything between the two ends is ours: the departure point in Miami, the aircraft and the crew, both border filings and the travel documents the Bahamas asks for before you leave Florida. Your party brings passports and a bag and turns up shortly before the boarding time rather than hours ahead of it.
This is one of several small plane routes from Miami, and the aircraft that flies it carries on into the rest of the Bahamas on the same day if that is what you want from it.
Plan Your Hope Town CharterHow It Works
How a Private Plane Miami to Hope Town Charter Actually Works
Six things change the moment the aircraft belongs to one party for the day, and only the last of them is about the weather.
Plan Your Hope Town CharterThe Manifest
Your party is the whole passenger list on the way to Hope Town
The list of names is the one you send us, and it closes when you send it. Nobody is seated next to you, and nobody is left behind. It can also still move: a name added, a name dropped, a child who turns out to be coming after all. We refile and the flight is the same flight.
The Clock
The hour you leave Miami is a decision rather than a listing
A scheduled service leaves when it leaves. A charter leaves when your party wants it to, inside daylight and inside what the crew is allowed to fly.
That is what makes a single day on Elbow Cay work at all rather than a night away: you are on the water by mid-morning instead of waiting on the next available departure. If the morning slips, the aircraft waits, because it has nowhere else to be.
The Field
You name the field on Great Abaco the private plane comes down on
Marsh Harbour is the obvious one because it is the closest asphalt to the cay and it handles arrivals from abroad itself.
It is not the only one within reach of Hope Town, and on a charter the choice belongs to your party rather than to a route map. Tell us where the day starts and ends and we work the field out backwards from that.
The Last Eight Miles
The crossing to Hope Town is arranged before you land, not after
Elbow Cay has no bridge, so every arrival finishes on the water. A car to the dock and the ferry over the Sea of Abaco are set up with the flight rather than found when you get there, and on an island this size that is the difference between an afternoon and half of one.
If you would rather not break the journey at all, a seaplane to Hope Town sets down in the harbour instead.
The Return
The way back from Hope Town belongs to you the way the way out did
A return leg on a scheduled service is an hour somebody else published. On a charter it is the hour you name in the morning, and it can move again while your party is still on the cay. Lunch can run long, the boat can come back late, and the aircraft is still sitting where you left it.
The Weather
Weather is the one thing a Hope Town charter does not make flexible
Everything else on this page bends. Weather does not, and we would rather move a day than fly it badly. You hear from us as early as we know and the flight is rebooked rather than flown. Because the aircraft was held for your party and nobody else, moving it is a conversation instead of a queue for the next available seat.
Departure Points
Departure Points for a Private Plane to Hope Town from Miami
The aircraft is booked for your party alone, so the departure point is yours to pick rather than something a timetable decides. These are the four we fly from around Miami. Select one to see exactly where it sits.
Miami Executive
Miami Executive Airport, TMB, Kendall
Kendall-Tamiami in the south west of the county, a general aviation field where the distance from the car to the aircraft is measured in steps. Nobody is waiting on a boarding call, because the only people on the flight are the ones who booked it. It is the shortest drive from the south and west of Miami-Dade.
Opa-locka Executive
Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, OPF
The executive airport north west of the city, where your group waits in a private terminal and walks out when it is ready. Most island days leave from here, and the same building clears the return into the United States. There is no check-in queue, so the morning is built around your day.
Miami International
Miami International Airport, MIA
A pickup rather than a base, for a party already off an airline flight that wants the island leg from the same airport. Arranged per flight and confirmed with the operator before it is quoted. It is the one departure point that costs you time, because a commercial field runs to its own order.
Fort Lauderdale Executive
Fort Lauderdale Executive, FXE
Fort Lauderdale Executive, chosen when the group is north of Miami and the drive south would eat the hour the flight saves. The return clears in its own building there, so a day need not end where it began. The aircraft positions to meet you.
How to Charter
Booking a Private Plane Charter from Miami to Hope Town
Chartering an aircraft is not booking a seat. There are four steps, and only the first one is yours.
Plan Your Hope Town Charter- 01
Contact Us
Write to us on WhatsApp or by email. Send your dates, how many guests, where you are coming from and where the day is meant to finish. Tell us the hour you would like to leave. There is asphalt a few miles from the village, so we can usually work to it.
- 02
Get Aircraft and Prices Back
We check what is free on your date and send back the aircraft that suit your party, with baggage and flight time for each. You are pricing the airframe, not a headcount, so a small group costs what a full one costs.
- 03
Confirm and Pay
You pick the aircraft, and we set the pickup point and the landing site. Then everything around the flight: catering on board, the car and the boat that carry your party the last few miles to the village, ground transport at either end. You approve it, you pay, and the boarding time and everything included come back.
- 04
Just Arrive 30 Minutes Early
You will have no terminal and no queue. Just make sure you are there 30 minutes before. Then you take off, come down within sight of the Sea of Abaco, and the rest of the day is yours.
On the Island
Where Flying Private Plane from Miami to Hope Town Puts You Down
The aircraft comes down on Great Abaco, the border formalities happen where it lands, and a car and a boat carry your party the last few miles east to the village. From that moment the day is unscheduled. There is no return departure to work backwards from and no group to keep together, so what follows is a menu rather than an itinerary.
These are the things parties on this crossing actually ask for, in the order they ask for them.
Plan Your Hope Town CharterHope Town Harbour and the Striped Light
The VillageThe village wraps around a small round harbour, and the candy-striped Elbow Reef lighthouse stands on the far side of it. It was built in 1863, it is around 120 feet tall, its light carries roughly seventeen miles, and it is one of the last in the world still worked by hand.
Almost every party walks up it, and with your own aircraft the walk is not something squeezed between two published departures. Climb it early while the harbour is still quiet, or late when the Sea of Abaco goes flat, and move your own departure to suit. What there is to see beyond the light belongs on the Hope Town page rather than here.
Tahiti Beach at the Southern End
Shallow and PaleThe south end of Elbow Cay finishes in a long shallow shelf of pale sand that shows and hides itself with the tide. It is the single most requested stop on this cay and the one most tightly tied to a clock, because the sandbars are only there for part of the day.
A scheduled return decides for you which part of the tide you get. A chartered aircraft does not: tell us when the water is meant to be right and the flight is built around that hour instead of the other way round. A beach picnic out there is arranged with the booking.
No Cars on Elbow Cay, So a Cart Is Waiting
Getting AroundThe village runs on narrow lanes and the island runs on golf carts. They are worth arranging in advance rather than on arrival, particularly at a weekend, and one booked with the flight is at the dock when your boat comes in.
Ask for it at the enquiry along with ground transport on the Great Abaco side and the whole chain from the aircraft to the front door is one arrangement rather than three. Anything more particular than that is a custom request and we would rather hear it early than well.
The Barrier Reef on the Ocean Side
In the WaterThe Abaco reef runs for more than 130 miles and is counted among the largest barrier reefs in the world. It lies on the Atlantic side of the cay, a short run from the village, and it is the reason a good number of parties come at all.
A boat and a guide are booked with the flight rather than found on the morning, and because the aircraft waits on your word, a dive that runs into the afternoon costs you nothing but the afternoon. A day shaped entirely around the water is a fishing day by air or one of the other experiences.
Man-O-War and Great Guana Cay
A Short Run NorthMan-O-War Cay is the boatbuilding cay, quiet and dry, a few minutes north across the water. Great Guana Cay is longer, emptier and carries the beach bar that half of the Abacos seems to end up at on a Sunday. Green Turtle Cay sits further up again. On a scheduled trip these are a separate day.
With the aircraft held for your party they are simply where the afternoon went, because nothing is counting down towards a departure you did not choose. Tell us at the enquiry which of them the day is meant to include and the boat is booked with everything else.
A Table, a Boat and a Cart Booked With the Flight
Arranged in AdvanceA table held above the harbour, a boat with a guide for the morning, a cart at the dock, a case of something waiting in the house: all of it is set up alongside the aircraft rather than chased once you are on the cay. This is the least glamorous advantage of a charter and the one parties mention afterwards.
Elbow Cay is small, the season fills it, and the difference between a booked table and an available one is often the difference between an evening and a wait. Send what the day is meant to look like with your dates and it comes back arranged and priced, including catering on board if the flight itself is part of the occasion.
Marsh Harbour Before or After the Water
The Other SideMarsh Harbour is the working town of the Abacos and it sits between your aircraft and the ferry dock. Most parties pass straight through it, and with your own hour you can decide instead to stop: provisions for a house, a chandlery run before a week on a boat, lunch on the way back when the flight home is at five rather than at two.
That is a decision a timetable normally makes for you. Here it is yours, and it costs nothing except telling us in the morning.
Carrying On Down the Abaco Chain
The Same AircraftHope Town is often the first stop rather than the whole trip. Once your party is cleared in on Great Abaco, every leg after it is domestic, and an aircraft that belongs to you for the day can string those legs together in whatever order suits.
Treasure Cay, Green Turtle Cay, the wider Abacos and the chain beyond them all take the same type, and none of them require going back to a hub first.
That is the shape of an island hopping day or a longer Bahamas day; a single cay and back is a Hope Town day trip. The full list is on the Bahamas destinations page.

In Detail
Private Plane Charter Miami to Hope Town: One Party, One Aircraft, One Field You Chose
Everything above is the day. What follows is the detail behind it: who is on board, who does the paperwork, which field the aircraft comes down on and who picked it, and how late the hour can still move on a flight to the Bahamas.
Private Plane Miami to Hope Town: Flying Low Over the Reef and the Flats
Room enough and a window each on a Hope Town private plane
The crossing is not dead time between two airports. The cabin is yours for it, so what is below is part of the day rather than something to sit through. Downtown Miami to Hope Town is about 207 statute miles, a little over 180 nautical and almost every mile of it is water. Arriving from abroad means clearing at a Bahamian airport of entry, and on Great Abaco that is Marsh Harbour or Treasure Cay, decided with the flight rather than announced to you afterwards. Everything between the two ends is ours: the departure point in Miami, the aircraft and the crew, both border filings and the travel documents the Bahamas asks for before you leave Florida. What is unique is that it happens while your party is still in Florida, and that the whole of your involvement on the day is carrying the passports you already own. The cabin belongs to your party and nobody else, so the crossing is yours to spend as you like. what travels with you is arranged before you board.
Private Plane to Hope Town from Miami: You Decide the Departure Time
Your hour, your names and a private plane to Hope Town
Nobody hands you a timetable on a charter. The day is built around the hour you name. You name the hour you want to lift off, the hour you want to be standing on Hope Town and which water in the city suits your morning. The aircraft belongs to your party for the day, so all three are your decision rather than a departure somebody else set, and a change the week before is a message to us. Half an hour before the lift-off is the whole of the check-in. Your party walks from the car to the aircraft, the bags go on in front of you, and the list for that flight carries your names and nobody else's. Nothing about the morning waits on a stranger. Once that is true, three things stop being fixed: who boards it, what hour it leaves Florida, and which field on Great Abaco it rolls to a stop on. And the crossing is a reason in itself. The windows are deep and the aircraft crosses low, so there is room for everybody to sit and watch the water change instead of taking turns at one of them.
Private Plane Charter from Miami to Hope Town: The Crew Files Both Borders, You Carry a Passport
Passports are all your party carries on a Hope Town crossing
A private plane from Miami to Hope Town crosses an international border twice in a day. Entry into the Bahamas asks for a declaration filed from Florida, clearance at a port of entry on arrival and a US return filed before you leave, which is what sets where you may land coming home. Passports for everyone, children included, per the travel documents guidance. What may travel sits in the baggage guidance. That same filing sets where you land coming home: a return from the islands clears at None, so a day that began on the water finishes on a ramp and a departure moved by weather runs under the weather and delays policy. If the party changes before the flight, the crew refiles. A name added, a name dropped: that is a message to us rather than a problem for you.
Flying Private Plane from Miami to Hope Town: Milestone Days and Bahamas Weekends
A day trip, a weekend or something to celebrate on Hope Town
A private private plane from Miami to Hope Town is booked when the day is worth marking: a birthday, a proposal, a graduation, a weekend away with the people who matter. The flight is short enough that the occasion, not the travelling, is what the day is about. That is what a private plane from Miami to Hope Town is for. We hold the aircraft, the hour and the extras you asked for, and what happens once you are there is yours to arrange. A weekend where eight people who wanted to be together actually are, going out and coming back. Some parties fly over for the day and are home the same evening. Others stay on and book the return for the day they want. Both are the same charter, and the whole group travels together on one booking. If there is something to celebrate, say so when you book: catering, a private chef, premium beverages and flowers travel with you. Everything is in place before you board in Miami.
Questions
Private Plane Miami to Hope Town: Questions Answered
What does chartering a private plane to Hope Town actually include?
The aircraft and the crew for your party, both border filings, and the ground arrangements you ask for at either end, including the car and the boat that carry you the last few miles to the village.
You are booking the airframe rather than seats on it, so the price covers the flight whether four people travel or eight. Catering and onward transport are added when you ask for them and come back priced with the aircraft.
Can we choose our own departure time to Hope Town?
Yes, within daylight and within what the crew is allowed to fly. That is the main thing a charter buys you on this crossing. The hour is set when you confirm and can still move afterwards if your day changes, because the aircraft is not going anywhere else and there are no other passengers to inconvenience.
Most parties leave in the morning and come back in the afternoon, but an early start and a late return are both normal requests rather than exceptions. Tell us the hour you actually want rather than the one you think is on offer.
Is anyone else on the flight?
No. A charter carries the people you name and nobody else. There is no seat assignment, no other party sharing the cabin, and no risk of the flight leaving without part of your group. The passenger list can also change up to shortly before departure: a name added or dropped is a refiling on our side rather than a rebooking on yours.
Does the aircraft land on Elbow Cay itself?
No. Elbow Cay has no runway and no bridge, so a wheeled aircraft comes down on Great Abaco and the last few miles to the village are made on the water.
That crossing is short and it is arranged with the flight rather than left to you on arrival. If you would rather not break the journey at all, the seaplane page covers the version that sets down in the harbour.
Which airport will we land at?
That is part of what you are choosing. Marsh Harbour is the closest asphalt to Hope Town and takes arrivals from abroad itself, which is why most parties use it, but Treasure Cay and the smaller fields further up the Abaco chain are all within reach of the same aircraft.
Tell us where the day starts and where it is meant to finish and the field is worked out backwards from that before anything is booked.
Do we have to connect through Nassau?
No. The aircraft flies straight from Florida to Great Abaco, and the arrival formalities happen where it lands. Connecting through somewhere larger is what scheduled travel to the out islands usually requires, and it is the step a private charter removes.
Once your party is cleared in, an onward leg to another Abaco cay is domestic and does not send you back to a hub first.
Do I need a passport?
Yes, for every passenger including children. The Bahamas is a different country and a private aircraft does not change that. We take the passport details once at the enquiry and file for both sides before departure. The travel documents page lists what is needed.
How early do we need to be at the airport?
About thirty minutes. There is no terminal to cross and no queue to join at the Florida end, because you leave from a private terminal rather than a passenger one. You park, walk to the aircraft and go. The outbound filing is already done from our side before you arrive, so there is nothing to hand in and nothing to print.
Can we change the passenger list after booking?
Yes, up to the day before in most cases. A name added or dropped means we refile the manifest and the flight is otherwise unchanged. Tell us as early as you can, because it is the paperwork that needs the notice, not the aircraft.
Can we fly on to another Abaco cay the same day?
Often yes. Once the aircraft is yours it can carry on along the chain rather than return to a hub first, and the fields at Treasure Cay, Spanish Cay and further north take the same type. Send the whole itinerary at the enquiry and it comes back as one day rather than as separate flights.
Is a private charter cheaper than scheduled flights for a group?
It depends on the size of the party and what the day is worth to you. The aircraft costs the same whether it is full or not, so the cost per person falls as the group grows, and a party of six or eight is usually where the comparison turns.
What a fare comparison never shows is the hour you get back at each end of the day. Send the date and the headcount and you get real numbers rather than an estimate.
How do we start?
Send the date, the number of guests, where you are leaving from and the hour you would like. You get back the aircraft that are free, what each one costs, the boarding time and what is included, and nothing is held until you say so.
If the day has anything else in it, a cart waiting at the dock or a table booked above the harbour, say so at the same time and it comes back priced alongside the aircraft.
Can I bring a pet on a private plane charter?
Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you. The one thing we ask is that you tell us at the enquiry, with the type of animal and its weight, so the seating and the load plan are right from the start.
